At least 100 people were killed and 300 wounded in two car bomb explosions in the Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Saturday.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud blamed the al-Shabab armed group for the attacks and told reporters on Sunday that he expected the death toll from the twin blasts to rise further, reports Aljazera.
Somalia authorities said the attack targeted the education ministry and a school and took place at the busy Sobe intersection.
Women, children and the elderly were killed in the attack, said, Sadiq Doodishe, a police spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Mission in Somalia condemned Saturday’s “vicious attack” and extended its condolences to the families of the victims.
