Trading on the country’s two major stock exchanges—the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)—continued Thursday with mixed movements across key indices, marking the final trading day of the week.
According to data from both bourses, the DSE’s benchmark index, DSEX, edged up by 1 point to 4,929 at 10:30 a.m., half an hour into the session. The Shariah index also rose by 1 point to 1,034, while the DSE-30 slipped by 1 point to 1,895. During this period, shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 70.89 crore were traded.
Of the securities traded, 101 advanced, 182 declined, and 65 remained unchanged.
The top 10 traded companies by 10:30 a.m. were BD Thai, Khan Brothers, Munnu Fabrics, Lavello Ice Cream, Simtech Industry, Evensi Textile, Khulna Printing, Pragati Insurance, Saiham Cotton and Orion Infusion.
Market movement was volatile earlier in the morning. The DSEX gained 7 points in the first five minutes of trading, then fell by 9 points at 10:10 a.m. before rebounding. By 10:20 a.m., the index had risen 8 points from the previous day to reach 4,936.
At the CSE, the CASPI index increased by 3 points to 13,865 by 10:30 a.m., with its momentum also trending upward.
The port city's exchange recorded transactions worth Tk 3.1 crore during the same period, with share prices of 10 companies rising, 12 declining, and 3 remaining unchanged.
