Expatriate Bangladeshis sent around US$425 mllion remittances during the first five days of October in the fiscal year 2024-25, reports BSS.
This represents a significant increase in remittances income compared to the same period last year, when remittances totaled $325 million.
The amount of remittance received during the first five days of this October is around a hundred million more than that of the same period last year.
Of this amount, remittances through state-owned and specialized banks accounted for $123.04 million, while private banks received $300.20 million, according to Bangladesh Bank data released on Sunday.
During July 2024 to 5 October, expatriate Bangladeshis sent around $6,967 million remittances, which was $5,232 million at the same period of the last year.
