Jewellers have raised the price of gold by Tk 2,216 to a record high of Tk 112,907 per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of the precious metal on the international market.
The new tariff will come into effect from Sunday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk 9,680 per gram while it is Tk 9,240 for 21-carat gold, according to a press release issued by the Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) on Wednesday, Daily Sun reported.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 7,920 a gram, while that of traditional gold is at Tk 6,600 a gram.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk180 per gram, Tk172 for 21-carat silver, Tk147 for 18-carat silver, and Tk110 for traditional silver.
The price of gold reached an all-time high on Tuesday, lifted by its safe-haven status as investors look ahead to lower US interest rates later this year.
