Country's both the bourse— Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)— on Thursday plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
The benchmark index DSEX settled 14.09 points down at 6,254.54. Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 5.82 points to finish at 2,126.80 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 3.84 points to close at 1,359.82, reports BSS.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Taka 9,164.20 million which was Taka 8,887.72 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 396 issues traded, 205 declined, 128 advanced and 63 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
ORIONINFU topped the turnover chart, followed by CENTRALPHL, NRBBANK, FUWANGCER and SONALIPAPR.
FINEFOODS was the day's top gainer, posting 9.95 percent gain while 1STPRIMFMF was the worst loser, losing 7.05 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 17.53 points to settle at 17928.39 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX- shedding 9.70 points to close at 10,744.38.
Of the issues traded, 139 declined, 88 advanced and 34 issues remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
The port city's bourse traded 95.52 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 19.81 crore.
