Bangladeshi Expatriates sent US$1,930.04 million remittances in November, around 21 percent higher than that month of the previous year.
The wage earners sent $1,595.17 million remittance to the country in November of 2022.
With the latest addition, the year-on-year growth in receiving remittances stood at 0.24 percent for the first five months, July to November, of the ongoing fiscal year (FY24) as the country received $8,814.55 million in total during the period. Last year, it was $8,793.56 million, reports BSS.
A senior official of the central bank mentioned that the flow of remittances into the country shows upward trend as the government has taken measures to streamline the legal channel for encouraging non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to send money to the country.
