The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has called upon the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to extend the deadline for submission of income tax returns for individual taxpayers from November 30 to December 31.
It has sent a letter to the revenue authority in this regard saying that a significant number of taxpayers were unable to prepare their return files within the stipulated time due to a delayed publication of the circular in this regard.
Furthermore, due to the prevailing political situation, it is impractical to submit income tax returns by November 30, read the letter signed by FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam, reports Daily Sun.
FBCCI has received requests from many business chambers to consider the extension of the deadline, he added.
