A total of 19 companies from Bangladesh are participating in the three-day international trade show titled 'Global Sourcing Expo Melbourne 2023,' which was kicked off on Tuesday at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
The Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra is facilitating the involvement of these companies in the trade show, said a press release from the foreign ministry on Tuesday, reports Daily Sun.
M Allama Siddiqui, Bangladeshi high commissioner to Australia and Mary Kinsella, chief executive officer of the organizing organization, jointly inaugurated the exhibition featuring Bangladeshi export products at the Global Sourcing Expo.
Fifteen garment manufacturers and suppliers are showcasing garment products with the support of the Export Promotion Bureau.
Apart from these, four other Bangladeshi companies took part in the exhibition, showcasing a wide range of products, including readymade garments and home appliances.
Around 900 producers and suppliers from 20 countries of the world participated in the trade fair that is held twice a year in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia.
This event plays a crucial role for importers, exporters, manufacturers, and suppliers, providing them with a platform to showcase their products, explore new markets, and foster mutual understanding to promote their trade internationally.
Approximately 93 per cent of Bangladesh's exports to Australia is garment products.
Political Counselor of Bangladesh High Commission Tahleel Delwar Moon and its Commercial Counselor Rony Chakma, among others, were present at the inaugural function.
