Muaz bin Noor arrested in connection with Ijtema ground clash

Muaz bin Noor, a leader of Tabligh Jamaat, has been arrested in connection with a violent clash between supporters of Maulana Zubair and Maulana Saad over control of the Biswa Ijtema ground in Tongi, Gazipur.

Tongi West Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iskandar Habibur Rahman confirmed the arrest of Muaz bin Noor on Thursday night. Authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend other suspects involved in the incident.

Muaz bin Noor, a pro-Saad leader, was apprehended in the Uttara area of Dhaka. The clash, which erupted on the night of December 18, resulted in four deaths and more than fifty injuries as the two factions fought for dominance over the Ijtema ground.

In the aftermath of the violence, a murder case was filed by SM Alam Hossain, a follower of Maulana Zubair, at the Tongi West Police Station. The case names 29 individuals, with hundreds of unidentified suspects also accused.
