Jewellers have increased the price of gold by Tk1,365, bringing the cost to Tk1,42,790 per bhori (11.664 grams) within a day of the price hike of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Wednesday.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk12,242 per gram, and 21-carat Tk11,686 per gram, according to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the committee.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk10,016 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk8,232 per gram.
New prices will come into effect on Thursday, the release added.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional one is Tk136 per gram.
