Rejecting the statements of the Chief Adviser’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam, students of the seven colleges have announced to continue their ongoing movement demanding the cancellation of their affiliation with Dhaka University and the formation of a commission to transition the seven colleges into a university.
Zakaria Bari, one of the spokespersons for the movement to transform the seven colleges into a university and a student at Kabi Nazrul College, made this announcement at a press conference in front of the cafeteria of Dhaka College on Saturday.
He said students of the seven colleges have rejected the statement of the press secretary of the chief adviser.
“We won’t divert from our main demand. Our demand for an autonomous university comprised of the seven colleges will remain unchanged.”
Zakaria Bari also said students have rejected the committee formed by the ministry adding that their protest programme will continue demanding the withdrawal of the press secretary’s speech, cancellation of the committee, forming a commission immediately and inclusion of student representatives in the commission.
The seven colleges involved in the protest are -- Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Women's College, Government Bangla College, and Government Titumir College.
