Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday morning attended the main event of the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025—a milestone initiative reaffirming the country’s commitment to economic progress, investment-friendly policies, and long-term growth.
Advisers including Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul, Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin, and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun were present at the event.
Principal Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Lamiya Morshed and Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam also joined the summit, where Special Envoy Lutfey Siddiqi welcomed participants.
Five companies and individuals will be honoured for their significant contributions to investment in Bangladesh. Among them, Youngone Corporation Chairman Kihak Sung will receive a lifetime honorary award and honorary citizenship, a senior official told UNB.
Recognising the vital role of domestic investors, prominent businessman Syed Nasim Manzur will also speak at the summit, as the government seeks insights from local entrepreneurs.
Throughout the four-day summit, which began on April 7, Bangladesh has been engaging with foreign investors to understand their perspectives on the country’s investment climate and explore areas for improvement.
Participants from over 40 countries—including China, the UK, the US, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, and India—are attending the summit.
On April 7, a large group of investors visited the Korean Export Processing Zone and the Mirsarai Economic Zone in Chattogram. On April 8, foreign participants toured the Japanese Economic Zone in Araihazar.
Chief Adviser Dr Yunus recently stated that there has never been a better time to explore Bangladesh’s exceptional investment opportunities.
“Bangladesh has undergone profound transformations, supported by a forward-thinking investment climate. We are committed to ensuring a level playing field for all our investors,” he said in a message to global stakeholders.
He added, “This summit is a gateway for investors to gain more data-driven insights. Come and witness the potential that Bangladesh holds for you, and join us in shaping the future of investment in one of the world’s most dynamic economies.”
