Jewellers have reduced the price of gold by Tk 1,248 to Tk 1,56,624 per bhori (11.664 grams), following a tariff cut on pure gold.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Tuesday.
According to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the committee, the price of 22-carat gold is now Tk 13,428 per gram, while 21-carat gold is priced at Tk 12,817 per gram.
The price of 18-carat gold has been set at Tk 10,986 per gram, while traditional gold now stands at Tk 9,059 per gram.
The new rates will come into effect on Wednesday, the release added.
Silver prices, however, remain unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk 221 per gram, 21-carat Tk 210, 18-carat Tk 181, and traditional silver Tk 136 per gram.
