A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed BNP Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie on four-day remand in a case filed for allegedly obstructing police in conducting their duties and vandalizing vehicles.
Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam passed the order as police produced Annie before the court and pleaded to place him on seven-day remand, reports BSS.
Police arrested the BNP leader from Dhanmandi area early Wednesday.
According to the case documents, on May 23, 2023, BNP leaders and activists brought out a rally in front of City College in Dhanmandi. Armed with local weapons, sticks, and crude bombs, they obstructed police from conducting their duties, attacked the law enforcers, vandalized vehicles and blasted cocktails.
Police later registered a case with Dhanmandi Police Station.
