A Dhaka court on Sunday placed four leaders and activists of BNP on one-day remand each in a case filed over clashes with police on July 29 in the capital's Dholaikhal area.
The four remanded accused are- Keraniganj Jubo Dal leader Abdul Momin, activists Kabir, Sohag Gazi and Riyaj Uddin Raju.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farjana Shakila Sumu passed the order as police produced them before the court and pleaded for placing them on five-day remand each.
The same court also sent BNP Dhaka division organizing secretary Abdus Salam Azad to prison in the case.
Police and BNP men locked in battle in Dholaikhal on July 29 as the party tried to organize sit-in in the area, without the permission from the law enforcers.
Police filed the case against 24 leaders and activists of BNP including Azad and Advocate Nipun Roy Chowdhury and 300/400 others.
