The ruling Awami League has cancelled Monday’s ‘peace rally’ at Dhaka International Trade Fair in Agargaon, a couple of hours after announcing the programme countering the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s programmes of public rallies across the country.
However, the party’s Dhaka North City unit will stage demonstration and sit-in programmes in the capital protesting BNP's arson terrorism while the party's all affiliated bodies will also join it.
Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League President Sheikh Bazlur Rahman gave this information to the media on Sunday.
He said, "We have decided to hold protest marches and sit-in programmes as the old trade fair ground is unfit for the rally”.
