After some moments of speculation, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming World Cup in India, with Shakib Al Hasan as captain and Tamim Iqbal excluded.
According to BCB sources, Shakib Al Hasan communicated to the board that he would like to step down as the captain of the side as he does not want unfit players in the World Cup squad.
Veteran Mahmudullah Riyad has also been included in the squad, having made a return to the national fold after more than a five-month gap through the ongoing New Zealand series.
