Former captain Mashrafe Mortaza calls on Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon at BCB office amid the uncertainty arises out of selecting final squad for upcoming world cup.
Before the World Cup, various complications have arisen within Bangladesh team. The team is scheduled to fly to India a day later. But the World Cup squad has not been announced yet. In the meantime, there are rumors that Shakib Al Hasan wants to leave the leadership.
In essence, Bangladesh Cricket Board is in a complicated situation. In the midst of such situation, Mashrafe Mortaza came to BCB office in Mirpur on Tuesday.
According to the source, the former captain has come in response to the call of BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon. The World Cup squad is yet to be finalised. Tamim Iqbal told the board that he is not fully fit and BCB is in doubt about playing him. There are also rumors that he will not be in the World Cup squad.
After the Asia Cup, Shakib Al Hasan told the board that he would leave the leadership. He showed the reason that he was not mentally well. He was also disappointed with the team's performance in the Asia Cup and the chances of doing well in the World Cup.
However, BCB is trying to keep Shakib in the lead at the last minute. A long meeting was also held at President Papon's residence on Monday night. The board approached Mashrafe to assist in solving these various issues.
