BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to seek advice and opinions from people of all walks of life on key national and party matters, including the upcoming general election, party management, and the running of the government if the BNP comes to power.
The initiative aims to ensure that public expectations and views are reflected in every aspect of party and state governance, while also promoting wider political participation among ordinary citizens in Bangladesh.
According to reliable party sources, Tarique Rahman will soon invite opinions from the public through a newly introduced QR code system. Using the QR code, any citizen will be able to share views on a wide range of issues. As part of this initiative, the BNP has already launched a website titled “Match My Policy”.
BNP Standing Committee member and former state minister Salahuddin Ahmed said that the party intends to conduct everything—from party affairs and elections to governing the state after winning public mandate—based on people’s opinions and advice. “Our chairman has taken this initiative so that the aspirations and expectations of the people are reflected in every activity of the BNP and any future government,” he said.
Sources said that, in the context of the post–July mass uprising in Bangladesh, the BNP has launched a new web app called Match My Policy to encourage political participation, policy-based discussions, and greater engagement from young people. Through the platform, both youth and the general public can express their views on BNP policies.
The party said any citizen can share opinions by visiting www.matchmypolicy.net, describing it as Bangladesh’s first interactive digital policy platform. Match My Policy is a swipe-based web app with a simple and familiar interface, allowing users to compare their own views with BNP policies. Each screen presents a brief summary of specific party policies or plans, which users can respond to by swiping to indicate their position.
The app also includes an “Opinion” option, enabling users to submit written suggestions on policy issues. BNP leaders said the core objective is to actively involve Generation Z, young people, and the general public in the policy-making process, making future plans more people-oriented, effective, and realistic based on direct public feedback. The platform also offers special content at the end to help users better understand BNP policies and future vision.
BNP Assistant Information and Technology Affairs Secretary HM Saif Ali Khan said the initiative marks the beginning of a new political culture centred on policy-based politics, participatory democracy, and direct engagement with citizens.
Election campaign to begin in Sylhet
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will begin his campaign for the 13th National Parliamentary Election from Sylhet on 22 January, party Media Cell Convener Md Moudud Hossain Alamgir confirmed. He said Rahman will start the campaign after visiting the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and Hazrat Shah Paran (R), followed by roadside gatherings and public rallies in different areas.
Speaking at a greetings exchange programme with editors and journalists in Dhaka on Saturday, Tarique Rahman said, “An election is approaching. As a member of a political party, it is natural that from 22 January we will present all our plans before the people.”
According to party sources, 21 January is the date for the allocation of election symbols, after which formal campaigning will begin on 22 January. On the same day, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to return to Dhaka by road after his Sylhet visit, conducting campaign activities along the way, including rallies in Moulvibazar and Sreemangal. Earlier, at the request of the Election Commission, his planned visit to northern Bangladesh was postponed following a meeting of the party’s highest policy-making body, the National Standing Committee.
