A fire that broke out in two flats on the 12th floor of a 14-story residential building in Katabon of Dhaka, has been brought under control.
Two people died after being rescued from the building and taken to the hospital. The deceased are Md. Jony, 25, and Md. Abdus Salam, 19.
The fire was brought under control at 3:08 am on Friday with the efforts of 6 units of the Fire Service.
Rafi Al Faruque, duty officer of the Fire Service's central control room, confirmed this information.
He said, “The two people were rescued after the fire broke out and sent to the hospital in a burnt condition. Jony was taken to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute and Abdus Salam to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Later, the doctors on duty at the two hospitals declared them dead.”
The Fire Service also said that no one is currently trapped inside the building and no new casualties have been reported. However, it was not immediately known how the fire started.
