BSF has attempted to push Indian citizens at the Teliapara border in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj, while BGB strongly resisted them. As a result, at one point, BSF was forced to take them back to India from the zero line. The general public of the border villages provided all possible support to BGB.
Habiganj 55 BGB confirmed the matter in a statement on Saturday afternoon.
BGB said, “On Friday around 3 am, several Indian citizens were tried to push into Bangladesh by turning off the security lights in the border area of Teliapara BOP adjacent to the 11-S sub-pillar of the 1982nd main pillar of Habiganj BGB battalion in the dark of night. Then, BGB members on patrol immediately repelled their attempt at the zero line with great skill, professionalism and caution. At one point, they sent their people back inside India.”
Lieutenant Colonel Tanzilur Rahman, the commander of BGB 55 Battalion Habiganj, said that the border situation is currently normal and 55 BGB is performing its duties with utmost caution.
