The US Embassy in Dhaka has issued a new warning to nonimmigrant visa holders traveling to the United States.
Relying on government assistance or abusing taxpayer-funded benefits could result in the cancellation of their visas and the loss of their future entry into the United States, they said.
In a message from the embassy on Saturday, nonimmigrant visa holders must be able to cover all their own expenses while in the United States.
The message also said that if any foreign visitor misuses or becomes dependent on government benefits funded by US taxpayers, strict action may be taken against them.
The embassy's warning noted that such actions could result in the cancellation of the person's current visa. In addition, he/she may be considered ineligible to obtain a US visa in the future.
For this reason, the US Embassy has urged those planning to travel to the United States to make adequate financial preparations and ensure their ability to cover their expenses.
