US President Donald Trump on Friday unveiled a limited-edition passport to mark the country's 250th anniversary of independence, featuring his own portrait on the design, reports AFP.
"The USA's New Passport, which says, 'Welcome, but be good!'" Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform while sharing a mock-up of the commemorative passport.
The design features a stern-faced image of Trump seated at his desk alongside his signature, with the text of the US Declaration of Independence in the background. The portrait appears to be based on an official photograph taken by White House photographer Daniel Torok.
The opposite page displays an illustration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, along with the inscription, "United States of America 250."
The White House also shared the design on social media, describing it as the "Patriot Passport."
The State Department had earlier announced that a commemorative passport featuring custom artwork would be available from July 6. It has not yet commented on Trump's unveiling of the new design.
In April, a State Department official said the Trump-themed passports would be available only through in-person appointments in Washington and only while supplies last.
Since returning to office, Trump has increasingly incorporated his personal branding into government institutions. His banners have appeared outside several federal buildings, while the Treasury Department has announced that his signature will appear on the one-dollar bill.
Trump also sought to add his name to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, although a court later ordered its removal.
If issued, the commemorative passport would make Trump the first sitting US president to be featured in an American travel document.
