After declining in two consecutive revisions, the gold prices jumped again in the local market.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk5,482 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new price at Tk228,556, including VAT.
In a statement issued on Saturday (27 June), BAJUS said the new prices took effect from 10:00am.
According to the association, the price hike was prompted by an increase in the local market price of pure gold (acid gold). After reviewing the overall market situation, BAJUS revised gold prices accordingly.
Under the new rates, including VAT:
22-carat gold: Tk228,556 per bhori
21-carat gold: Tk218,291 per bhori
18-carat gold: Tk187,440 per bhori
Traditional-method gold: Tk153,148 per bhori.
The previous price adjustment was made on 25 June, when BAJUS reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,216 per bhori, bringing it down to Tk223,074, including VAT.
With the latest revision, gold prices have been adjusted 82 times in Bangladesh so far this year. Of those, prices have increased 41 times, decreased 40 times, and VAT has been adjusted once.
