Chattogram-based shipbuilding company Western Marine Shipyard Limited is exporting three landing craft ships to the United Arab Emirates.
The three ships named Maya, Amy and Muna were handed over to the officials of the buyer company Marwan Shipping Limited on Thursday. The chief guest at the event was UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Alhamoudi and the special guest was Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Abdur Rahim Khan. The event was held at Western Marine Shipyard. The company's managing director captain Sohel Hasan said that in 2023, Western Marine signed a contract with the United Arab Emirates-based company Marwan Shipping Limited to build 8 ships, which include 2 tugboats, 4 landing craft and 2 tankers. A total of 3 ships including 1 landing craft and 2 tugboats were already exported under the contract.
The last 3 landing craft have been handed over and the remaining 2 ships will be handed over next year when construction is complete.
