BNP sent letters to various embassies and high commissions in Dhaka on Sunday, accusing the government behind arson attack and sabotage across the country. Earlier, the same copy of this letter had been sent to UN headquarters on December 28.
The letter said, the country is entering into a farce, along with violent vote rigging in the name of national elections on January 7. The sabotage activities conducted through state patronization inducing severe torture and oppression not only on the political leaders and activists, but also on the labor and marginal people of the country. The Awami League and some portion of law enforcing agencies have been disrupting the peaceful living and security of people’s lives and properties through planned attack, especially in buses and trains. The sole beneficiary of the current arson attacks is the ruling party. The top leadership of AL and high officials of law enforcing agencies have been blaming BNP after these types of incidents without proper investigation. They’re using this demolitions process as a political tool which was also reflected in many vindictive speeches of the government.
The BNP termed the burning of three compartments of a moving train in Dhaka (Tejgaon) on December 19, the death of four people, the DMP's letter to keep enough beds vacant in government hospitals, the burning of various vehicles including buses as the eternal 'blame' game politics of the Awami League with the support of the state apparatus. Marked sections of the government's subservient police executed a destructive plan on October 28 - to thwart the BNP's mass rally and make the ongoing peaceful movement questionable. Masked Awami League leaders and activists, with the help of the police, attacked the Chief Justice's residence and set fire to buses and cars in front of the police hospital. They killed a policeman in broad daylight and tried to pin the blame on BNP activists. The silent cooperation of the police as a silent spectator during the arson attacks, the criminals being allowed to escape from the spots after the sabotage and later false cases against millions of BNP leaders and workers, the mass arrest of about 25,000 leaders and activists and the killing of 27 innocent people in the last two months— all are happened due to AL involvement. Sabotage and mishaps are perpetrated through state apparatus. Law enforcement forces are arresting the leaders and activists of BNP who are active in anti-government movement. ‘Ghaibi’ (fake and false) cases were filed to arrest the leaders and activists of BNP. Mass verdicts are being given in false cases against BNP leaders-activists.
Moreover, the statements of government ministers-MPs and police officers along with various evidences of setting fire to vehicles by members of the ruling party and the law enforcing agencies have been highlighted in the statement.
