The field officials of election commission (EC) demanded helicopters to send voting-equipment’s in 33 centers ahead of upcoming 12th national elections. The above information was revealed by the officials of elections management wing of EC on Monday.
According to the sources, the EC has sent letters to the officials of three districts of Chattogram Hill Tracts, asking them about the number of centers that would need helicopters. The officials replied that they’d need helicopters in 33 centers. There’re such 3 centers in Khagrachari, 12 in Bandarban and 18 in Rangamati. Earlier, the EC used helicopters of the air force for transport and sending voting equipment in remote areas and they want to do it this time, too.
The schedule of 12th national elections will be announced in the first half of this November, i.e., in next week. The voting process will be held in first week of January.
Training of DC-SPs on November 10-11: The second phase of training program for District Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) will be held on Friday and Saturday (November 10 and 11) ahead of the 12th National parliamentary elections. Election Training Institute (ETI) Director General SM Asaduzzaman confirmed this to media. He said the postponed program will be held on November 10 and 11. A total of 114 trainees including DC and SP, Divisional Commissioner, Police Commissioner of 32 districts will participate in it.
Earlier, a two-day residential training was scheduled to take place at the Election Training Institute on November 2 and 3. It was postponed due to the program of BNP. Before that the program was delayed due to puja. On October 14 and 15, the first phase of the training program was completed with a total of 116 people including DCs, SPs, Divisional Commissioners and Metropolitan Police Commissioners in four divisions of 32 districts of the country.
