Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Gopalganj Science and Technology University (GSTU) unit has distributed Eid gifts among underprivileged children ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The distribution ceremony was held on the university campus on Monday (18 May).
At the programme, children from low-income families received new dresses, Punjabi outfits and other clothing items.
Organisers said the programme was arranged for children from extremely poor families identified through Shuvosangho’s weekly educational activities conducted every Friday in the campus area.
Six-year-old Ayesha Akter said her family was unable to buy new clothes during the previous Eid and she celebrated the festival in old garments. She expressed happiness after receiving a new dress.
Eight-year-old Rakib Munsi said he works at a shop near the university. He said he could not buy new clothes during the last Eid due to financial constraints and would now wear the new Punjabi outfit during Eid prayers.
Gopalganj district president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Sujan Das said the organisation has been carrying out humanitarian activities for underprivileged people in the area and plans to expand such programmes in the future.
University unit leaders and members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho were present at the distribution programme.
