Government and private offices, courts, banks, and insurance institutions are resuming regular activities today following the seven-day holiday for the holy Eid al-Adha.
The government declared a public holiday from May 25 to May 31 for Eid al-Adha. With the addition of the weekly weekend, government employees enjoyed an uninterrupted seven-day break.
After the holiday, regular operations resume at government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices across the country. Banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, and the stock market also return to normal business activities.
Banking services resume as usual today, while insurance companies also restart their regular operations. Trading activities at the country’s two stock exchanges likewise resume.
Customers can conduct banking transactions from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm while banks remain open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Insurance companies also operate from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Meanwhile, trading on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will follow the standard schedule from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm, with their office hours set from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
As the Eid holidays come to an end, people are also making their way back to the capital. On Saturday and Sunday, workers return to Dhaka from different parts of the country by road, rail, and waterway, resulting in a growing volume of traffic on the city's streets.
