32,649 vehicles crossed the Jamuna Bridge over the past 24 hours, marking a decline of 2,317 vehicles compared to the previous day ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. However, traffic pressure is expected to increase from midday today.
16,753 vehicles crossed the bridge from the eastern end during the 24-hour period, generating toll revenue of Tk 14,907,150 on Saturday.
On the other hand, 15,896 vehicles crossed from the western end, generating Tk 14,762,750 in toll collection.
Combining both sides, a total of 32,649 vehicles used the Jamuna Bridge in 24 hours, bringing total toll earnings to Tk 29,669,900.
Earlier on Friday, 34,966 vehicles crossed the bridge in 24 hours, with toll collection reaching Tk 32,433,400. Compared to that day, vehicle crossings decreased by 2,317 and toll revenue fell by Tk 2,763,500.
Syed Riaz Uddin, executive engineer of the Jamuna Bridge Site office, said that necessary measures have been taken to ensure smooth traffic flow on both ends of the bridge, and continuous monitoring is ongoing.
The Jamuna Bridge serves as a key road link for people from about 22 northern and southern districts of the country. Most vehicles from these districts use the bridge for travel to the capital and other regions.
