The leaders of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), the two top organizations in the country's ready-made garments sector, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The meeting was held at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.
Sources said that the courtesy call between BGMEA and BKMEA leaders and the head of government was held at the Prime Minister's Office located in the Cabinet Division of the Secretariat this afternoon.
Top central-level leaders of BGMEA and BKMEA were present during the meeting.
They discussed with the Prime Minister the current situation, future prospects and various aspects of expanding export trade in the ready-made garments and knitwear industries, one of the main driving forces of the country's economy.
