Assistant Secretary of international affairs for BNP and a former member of parliament Barrister Rumeen Farhana has said that everyone wants elections except for Dr. Yunus and a few of his “pet students.” According to her, even a very bad elected government is better than an unelected one.
She made these remarks during a recent talk show appearance.
Highlighting the ongoing disrespect toward politicians, the BNP leader said, “Just as politicians’ characters were being assassinated during the time of 1/11 government, I’ve been seeing similar patterns over the past few months. When we were protesting, these people were hiding under the banner of Chhatra League. They were hiding everywhere posing as Chhatra League members.”
Stressing again that everyone wants elections except a select few, Rumeen Farhana said, “In this country, everyone wants elections—except Dr. Yunus and a handful of his pet students. The administration wants elections, political parties want elections—both registered and unregistered. Even the foreigners want elections. The only one who doesn't is this government.”
She also pointed to a decline in investment, saying, “This government is good at creating flashy appearances. They brought in Ashik Chowdhury and gave a brilliant presentation. But the report showed that investment has dropped by 26%.”
In conclusion, Rumeen Farhana said, “I’ll say just one thing: even a very bad elected government is better than an unelected one.”
