A group of students from Dhaka University (DU) staged a protest march and rally at midnight, demanding a ban on the Awami League.
On early Friday, students from various halls of the university marched towards the base of the Raju Sculpture, where they held a rally.
During the demonstration, the students were heard chanting slogans such as "No place for Awami League in the Bangladesh of '24," "Set the fire ablaze, Burn the throne of Awami League," "Awami League, stand back," and "Ban Awami League immediately."
The students stated that those who had established Fascism in the last 16 years and those who killed students and mass people must never be rehabilitated.
The students also feel that the Awami League has lost its relevance in politics after July.
They also said that those injured in July are still suffering in hospitals, yet the interim government has failed to bring the Awami League to justice. They demanded an immediate trial and a ban on the party.
