Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has rescued a two-and-a-half-month-old baby, who had been kidnapped from Thakurgaon, and arrested four abductors from the Mulaid area under Sreepur Police Station in Gazipur district.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint operational team from CPC-1 of Dinajpur Camp of RAB-13 and the Crime Prevention Specialised Company of RAB-1 in Gazipur conducted a raid in the Mulaid area and arrested the abductors, according to a media release.
The baby was rescued at 1:45 pm on Wednesday, reports BSS.
The arrestees are: Sonali Akhter Shirin, 20, wife of Md. Raju Kabiraj, and Raju Kabiraj, 22, of Nultola Barabari village in Gobindaganj Upazila of Gaibandha; Md. Liton Mia, 35, son of Md. Akkas Ali; and Lovely Begum, 39, wife of Md. Liton Mia of Chakpara village in Kamalakanda Upazila of Netrokona.
The elite force handed over the arrestees and the rescued baby to Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station for further legal action.
Later, the baby was reunited with his parents.
The baby, Sayan, son of Md Shimul Islam of Mujbolli village in the Vulli area of Thakurgaon, was abducted from Thakurgaon 250-bed General Hospital on March 10 around 6:30 pm while undergoing treatment.
The victim's father filed a case with Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station the same day. The incident sparked outrage in the area and drew the attention of the Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-1 of Dinajpur Camp of RAB-13.
Alongside the police, CPC-1 of Dinajpur Camp of RAB-13 launched intelligence activities and conducted a shadow investigation to track down the absconding kidnappers.
