An earthquake was felt across several parts of Bangladesh, including the capital Dhaka, at 6:40 am on Tuesday (February 25). The tremor, measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, originated near the Bay of Bengal, close to India’s West Bengal and Odisha, according to the Meteorological Department.
Officials described the quake as moderate, noting that its offshore origin reduced its impact in Bangladesh. However, coastal districts experienced stronger tremors. The earthquake’s epicenter was 501 km from Bangladesh, with more significant effects reported in coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha.
