As part of the move to check sabotage and violence leading to instability in the country, the joint forces apprehended 589 more people, under the nationwide 'Operation Devil Hunt'.
In a short message, the police headquarters said 1,543 more individuals were netted from across the country on the 17th day of the operation in the last 24 hours till Monday noon (February 24).
Of the arrestees, 589 were captured for their suspected link to destabilise the country under the 'Operation Devil Hunt' while 954 others on previous cases and warrants, the message said.
With the latest figure, a total of 9,253 were arrested from across the country under the 'Operation Devil Hunt' that begun on February 8 following an attack on the student-people in Gazipur.
During the operation in the last 24 hours, two pistols including a foreign made, 12 rounds of bullet of 7.65 bore, and three magazines were seized.
