BNP Acting chairman Tarique Rahman said, “As parts of politics, there will be discussions, arguments, and debates on various issues. However, we have to be careful that such a situation does not arise in the country while making arguments, so that there is a dictatorship or someone who does not want the good of Bangladesh gets an opportunity. We have to be careful about this.”
“At the same time, we have to be careful about another issue, so that we do not move away from protecting the interests of the people and the country by making unnecessary arguments,” he said.
He said this in his speech as the chief guest while virtually joining the biannual conference of the Metropolitan BNP held at the Khulna Circuit House ground on Monday.
BNP Acting chairman said, “Despotism has destroyed the country and fled away. Now democracy must be restored at any cost. People's right to vote must be established. If we can establish the right to vote, we will be able to bring Bangladesh back from the brink of destruction.”
Tarique Rahman said, “As a force in favor of democracy, all members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party must continuously give efforts so that democracy returns to Bangladesh. BNP leaders and activists must work to build the country and reconstruct the state system. Most people in the country are looking to BNP. Most people believe that if there is a proper election in the country, BNP will get the responsibility of running the government. But we cannot only sit with that hope; we have to prepare ourselves for that. The leaders and activists must reflect themselves it in their words and actions. We have to build ourselves according to the expectations of the country and the people.”
Mentioning that stability must be brought within the country, he said, “We have to pay attention to our education, health, and agricultural systems. We have to pay attention to the rising prices of commodities; the common people are strugling every day due to the rising prices of essential commodities.”
Regarding state reforms, Tarique Rahman said, “Today we talked about reforms. But if we just keep talking about reforms unnecessarily, we will get sidetracked from our core tasks. We need to elect the right people who will do the right jobs for the people of the country."
