Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus handed over the Ekushey Padak to the Bangladesh National Women’s Football Team and 17 distinguished individuals on Thursday morning.
The award ceremony was held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
The government has handed over the awards in recognition of their significant contributions in various fields.
The award recipients are: Film: Azizur Rahman (posthumously), Music: Ustad Nirad Baran Barua (posthumously) and Ferdous Ara, Photography: Nasir Ali Mamun, Fine Arts: Rokeya Sultana, Journalism: Mahfuz Ullah (posthumously), Research: Moeedul Hasan, Education: Dr. Niaz Zaman, Science and Technology: Mehdi Hasan Khan (team leader), Rifat Nabi (team member), Md. Tanbin Islam Siam (team member), and Shabab Mustafa (team member), Social Work: Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury (posthumously), Language and Literature: Helal Hafiz (posthumous) and Shahidul Zahir (Md. Shahidul Haque) (posthumously), Journalism and Human Rights: Mahmudur Rahman, Culture and Sports: Bangladesh National Women’s Football Team.
Each of the awardees received an 18-carat gold medal of 35 grams, Tk1 lakh in cash, a certificate and a crest.
