Ferry services on the Shariatpur-Chandpur waterway have been temporarily suspended due to dense fog.
To prevent accidents, the Narsingpur Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) terminal authorities halted ferry operations from 4 am today (February 18), said the terminal’s Deputy Manager Md Iqbal Hossain, reports UNB.
From midnight Monday, intense fog had blanketed the river and surrounding areas, prompting the decision to suspend ferry movement from 4 am to ensure safety, said Iqbal.
No ferries, however, were stranded mid-river. Ferry operations will resume once visibility improves, he added.
