Revolutionary Workers Party general secretary Saiful Huq said that three important tasks of the government were discussed in the meeting.
"One of these is the trial of the genocide, two are to complete reforms through dialogue and discussion and to complete the 13th national election within this year as people have been waiting for free and fair elections for 16 years," he said.
Noting that many are trying to make the election stand against reforms and trial, he added, "We all want trial and reform. Therefore, only if we can prepare for the national election along with trial and reform, we will be able to walk towards the transition to democracy."
He told reporters after coming out of the National Consensus Commission meeting on Saturday afternoon.
Saiful Huq said, "In terms of character, the government is a party-neutral interim government. The government should not be biased towards any particular party or ideology. So, the government must maintain its neutral character and characteristics and by taking all political parties and important stakeholders into confidence, we will be able to come to an understanding through talks and discussions. We will be able to come to a decision regarding the next democratic transition, including the elections.”
Saiful Huq said, “if the bulk reports of the commissions can reach the political parties and stakeholders, it will be an important thing."
