Nagad’s government-appointed administrator Muhammad Badiuzzaman Didar came under a violent attack in the capital’s Banani area on Wednesday afternoon about an hour after he informed the media about proofs of massive corruption at the company during Awami League regime.
Three-four miscreants intercepted the car of Didar in Banani, and started banging on the vehicle’s front part with hammers, leaving the driver seriously injured, and the windshield shattered.
Then, the assailants started beating Didar, but fortunately, before they could cause serious injury, locals chased them away.
Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan has confirmed the attack.
Banani Police Station's Officer-In-Charge Russel Sarwar said the police were later informed of the attack.
Earlier in the day, ACC Assistant Director Md Ruhul Haque led a day into the office of the fintech company and found evidences linked to Tk2,356 crore corruption committed using the digital platform.
On 3 February, the Bangladesh Bank filed a case against Nagad, alleging fraud, embezzlement, and financial irregularities worth Tk645 crore committed during the corrupt Awami League regime.
