Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said we are determined to build a country based on justice and fairness and want to see a Bangladesh free of violence.
“The people want to vote for the persons who will take responsibility for everyone's security,” he said. “Jamaat will move forward by confronting all conspiracies to build a new Bangladesh, as we’re ready to make any sacrifice for the country's needs.”
He said this while addressing a huge public rally organized by Cox's Bazar District Jamaat-e-Islami at the Cox's Bazar Government Ground on Saturday as the chief guest.
The event was presided over by district Jamaat Ameer principal Nur Ahmed Anwari and jointly moderated by district secretary Zahedul Islam and city secretary Riaz Mohammad Shakil. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's assistant secretary general and former MP Hamidur Rahman Azad, assistant secretary general Muhammad Shahhazan, central working council professor Ahsan Ullah, Chittagong Metropolitan Ameer and former MP Shahjahan Chowdhury, Hindu Buddhist Welfare Trust Trustee Parimal Kanti Shil, former district Ameer Maulana Mostafizur Rahman, Mufti Habib Ullah, Adv. Farid Uddin Farooqui and Adv. Shahjalal Chowdhury addressed the public meeting as special guests.
Demanding the release of imprisoned Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam, the Jamaat Ameer said, "Declare that he was an innocent person and return him to our hearts."
Referring to former IGP Benazir Ahmed as the killer of Alems in Shapla Chattar, Jamaat Amir said, “There was a notorious police officer who escaped the country and after that news of his illegal assets worth thousands of crores of taka had published in the newspapers. Benazir, who showed her pride by shooting innocent alems, ulamas, orphans and hafeez recklessly in Shapla Chattar, is now conspiring from abroad. I would like to tell the policemen not to fall into the trap of that conspirator. You should fulfill your state duties properly so that he cannot put you at risk. Be careful and show hatred towards him.”
Addressing the interim government, he said, “You’re to leave after completing the necessary reforms and holding a fair election. May Allah grant you the opportunity to leave with honor. If you take up any development project, do not forget this district (Cox's Bazar).”
