Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman said they expect no one turns into a fascist again in the country as fascism is not favorable for anyone.
"There was a time when people couldn’t bid farewell to their loved ones or even pray together—such a terrible situation was created. May such circumstances never return," he said at a commemoration meeting and prayer session for former MP and secretary of Jamaat's central women's wing, Hafeza Asma Khatun, at Al Falah Auditorium in Moghbazar, Dhaka, on Friday morning.
He said stubbornness and fascism are not beneficial for anyone in this world or the hereafter.
"I pray that the entire nation can learn from those nightmarish times (of Awami fascism). May no one ever walk the same path again," Shafiqur Rahman added.
He said the women wing of the Jamaat started the work of the central committee with just ten people while now the number of activists of that organisation has risen to 43,000.
Jamaat Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Central Executive Council Member Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Dhaka Metropolitan South Unit Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, Central Working Committee Members Jasim Uddin Sarkar, Mamun Al Azmi, Hemayet Hossain and Najib Momen were also present at the meeting.
