The court has granted a six-day remand to former State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Enamur Rahman in the case of the murder of Hawker Sagar in Mirpur during the anti-discrimination movement in the capital.
He was produced in court on Monday afternoon. Then, the investigation officer of the case, police sub-inspector Md. Monirul Islam, applied for his 10-day remand. The accused's lawyer held a hearing seeking cancellation of his remand and bail. On the other hand, the public prosecutor of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court, Omar Faruk Faruki, held a hearing in favor of the remand for the state.
After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam rejected his bail plea and delivered this remand order.
Earlier, he was arrested from the Bhatara area of the capital at midnight on Sunday.
According to the case sources, Hawker Md. Sagar participated in the anti-discrimination student movement at the Mirpur roundabout on July 19. He died in random shooting by the accused that day. On November 27, the victim's mother, Beauty Akhter, filed a murder case with Mirpur Model Police Station. 242 people, including Sheikh Hasina, have been accused in this case. Enamur is the 30th accused in the case.
