The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday filed a corruption case against former lawmaker Md Akhteruzzaman Babu, reports BSS.
ACC filed the case against the former lawmaker from Khulna-6 constituency for his alleged involvement in acquiring illegal wealth.
ACC Director General-(Prevention) Md Akhter Hossain told the journalists that the anti-graft body has filed the case against the former lawmaker for amassing Taka 3,47,76,974 beyond his known source of income.
The ACC during its investigation found that he acquired and possessed wealth and cash amounting to Taka 13,96,16,141 of which Taka 10,48,39,167 are legal. That is why the ACC filed the case against him under section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act-2004.
Akhteruzzaman Babu was elected member of the parliament (MP) with an Awami League ticket from Paikgachha-Koira(Khulna-6) constituency in 2018.
