India on Monday summoned Bangladesh's acting High Commissioner in New Delhi, Md Nural Islam, just a day after Bangladesh called the Indian envoy over border-related issues.
Earlier on Sunday, Bangladesh ‘summoned’ Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pranay Verma and conveyed deep concern during a meeting at his office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the recent activities of the Border Security Force (BSF) of India along the Bangladesh-India border in Chapainawabganj and Naogaon.
After the meeting, the Indian High Commissioner said India is committed to ensuring a crime-free border and effectively addressing the challenges of smuggling and trafficking.
“We have an understanding about fencing the border for security. Our two border guard enforcements - BSF and BGB - have been in communication regarding this. We hope that the understanding will be implemented. We also hope that both sides will have a cooperative attitude to prevent crimes.”
