The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has cancelled all the holidays of its officials and employees so that authorities can distribute government-funded textbooks among school children in January.

NCTB Chairman Professor Dr AKM Riazul Hasan told reporters the holdiays have been officially cancelled adding all staff members have been working extra hours everyday including weekly holidays for nearly two months.

On Tuesday, an order was issued in this regard claiming that as the publication and supply of textbooks is a matter of national interest all the weekly holidays and other holidays of all staff members have been cancelled.

According to norms, the textbooks for classes 1-10 are slated to be handed over to all the school-going children on 1 January. However, the printing and editing works were disrupted this year due to political turmoil.
