Dozens of Israeli settlers have carried out provocative tours of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, under the protection of the Israeli police, according to Wafa.
Local sources told Wafa that the Israeli visitors performed Talmudic rituals in its courtyards, violating the decades-old status quo which only permits Muslim prayer in the holy compound, reports Al Jazeera.
Since the start of the war, Israeli forces have tightened their procedures at the gates to Al-Aqsa Mosque and the entrances to the Old City, Wafa reported.
