Train service on the Benapole-Dhaka route via the Padma Bridge began on Tuesday as the “Ruposhi Bangla Express,” with a 768-seat capacity, made its first journey from Benapole to Dhaka.
The train left Benapole Railway Station for Dhaka at 3:00 pm with 927 passengers in 12 coaches and reached Kamalapur Railway Station in the capital at 7:10 pm, reports BSS.
Jashore Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Azaharul Islam officially inaugurated the passenger train at Benapole Railway Station.
Benapole Railway Station Master Md Saiduzzaman said that the Ruposhi Bangla Express will remain closed on Mondays out of the seven days of the week.
Currently, it takes seven hours and 35 minutes to travel from Dhaka to Benapole via the Tangail-Ishwardi route. From now on, it will take only three hours and 40 minutes to travel from Dhaka to Benapole via the Padma Bridge, he said.
The station master also said that a pair of Ruposhi Bangla Express trains will operate on the Dhaka-Benapole-Dhaka route. The train will leave Dhaka at 11:45 am and reach Benapole at 2:25 pm, then leave Benapole at 3:30 pm and reach Dhaka at 7:10 pm.
The train will have stoppages at Jashore Junction, Narail, Kashiani Junction, and Bhanga Junction.
