Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Interim Government’s Ministries of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and Youth and Sports, has reaffirmed the government’s focus on implementing crucial reforms before holding elections. "Our martyrs did not sacrifice their lives for a rushed election. Reforms are essential to shape a better future for the nation," he declared on Wednesday morning while distributing winter clothes to underprivileged residents at Baliadangi Upazila Parishad Hall in Thakurgaon.
Highlighting the government's commitment to regional upliftment, Asif Mahmud emphasized the transformation of neglected northern districts, including Baliadangi Upazila, into areas aligned with national standards. "Districts in North Bengal, long overlooked, are now witnessing significant development initiatives," he said. As part of these efforts, he announced a 50 lakh taka grant to establish an upazila library, aimed at promoting education and community engagement.
Addressing concerns over unauthorized contracting by government officials, Asif Mahmud assured that these practices would be thoroughly investigated and resolved.
The clothing distribution was attended by prominent figures, including Additional District Magistrate Mustafa Sardar Shaheen, Additional Police Superintendent Liza Begum, LGED Executive Engineer Mamun Biswas, and members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, underscoring the government’s dedication to both reform and regional development.
